Eden volcano, an orchard, a winery and Muriwai beach gannet colony. 2 hours easy beach and bush walking with time to relax at the beach. This tour begins with approximately 9.00am pick-ups from Auckland central hotels, hostels or a pre-arranged pick-up point. First of all we travel to the summit of Mt. Eden volcano. We take in a view of the city, pointing out the sights of the City of Sails, with an optional walk down into the volcanic crater. |

We break up the
35 minute journey to Muriwai beach by visiting a winery, and a local orchard. At the winery
visitors can sample a range of award winning wines for FREE, and have each wine individually
explained to them. Passengers have the opportunity to purchase wine at reduced rates. |

Next we travel to a nearby orchard, which grows apples,
pears, plums and tomatoes/egg plants in a hot house environment. Our guide will explain the
operation of the orchard and we stop for a chat with the friendly orchardist. Passengers can
pick their own apples off the trees in season.![]() We arrive at Muriwai beach and begin our bush walk from the top of a hill. From here they will trek along the beach or up into the bush, discovering rivers, waterfalls, native and pine forest, farms and finally an awesome lake with panoramic views down the mighty west coast beaches. |

Our groups take a
lunch break at the local cafeteria at Muriwai Beach. The cafe serves alcohol, vegetarian food,
takeaways, sandwiches, ice creams, drinks, burgers , rolls and pies.After lunch we visit the Muriwai gannet colony, where passengers can view the famous gannets. Our guide provides information about the gannets way of life, behaviours and various rituals that occur. Depending on the stage of the breeding season at the time of the tour you may see anything from vicious fighting for territory, mating dances, laying of eggs, nesting, hatching eggs, feeding young and maturing chicks.
Finally we take a short native bush walk to a lookout, with
fantastic views down the rugged coastline. Many visitors often say that it is the 'most
beautiful spot in NZ'. |
